**Activity Aide - Blackadar Continuing Care Centre**
The incumbent will report to the Resident Program Manager.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Plan, implement/facilitate/lead and evaluate one to one, self-directed and group recreation programs based on assessed needs, abilities and interests of residents (social/physical/intellectual/emotional/spiritual).
- Perform other departmental tasks as required or as assigned by the Resident Program Manager.
- Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs and meals. Monitor the behaviour and condition of residents during programs, and report any significant changes to the Resident Program Manager and nursing staff as appropriate.
- Maintain program and resident records and departmental communications including daily attendance, multi-disciplinary progress notes, resident assessment, quarterly/annual reviews as well as program audits as per department policy.
- Work cooperatively with Programs Department staff, volunteers as well as all multi-disciplinary team members to meet resident needs.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies or therapeutic recreation preferred. Will also consider kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or enrolled in same. If enrolled, must complete program within 3 years of hire date.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), as well as excellent leadership/organization and documentation skills.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Point Click Care and Activity Pro and Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel) preferred.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, implementation and evaluation with a diverse population.
- Flexible, energetic, detail oriented, able to work independently and ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to plan, implement, evaluate new ideas, resident programs and volunteer initiatives.
