Cafeteria Coordinator/cook

**Role Overview**:
The Cafeteria Coordinator/Cook will be responsible for overseeing all cafeteria kitchen operations, ensuring a high standard of food preparation, cooking, inventory management and serving meals to students and staff on a daily basis.
**Responsibilities**:
- Design, create, and prepare weekly menus adhering to school policy and specific student dietary needs and/or restrictions.
- Order, receive, and maintain inventory, and create an inventory management system for kitchen supplies, ensuring sufficient stock levels.
- Ensure safe storage and disposal of food and beverages.
- Maintain cleanliness of food services area, equipment, and utensils.
- Ensure preparation and cooking stations are stocked appropriately.
- Notify Leadership Team of any repairs or maintenance required for kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Enforce proper sanitation and preparation practices and procedures.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to kitchen coordination.
- Adhere to and enforce school policies.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-Secondary diploma in Culinary Arts or Hospitality is considered an asset.
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in food handling and food preparation.
- Kitchen supervisor experience is considered an asset
- Successful completion of Food Handler’s Certificate is required.
- Experience within a school setting is considered an asset.
- Good knowledge of dietary needs for students with severe food allergies.
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Excellent organizational, time-management, communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills.
**Working Conditions**:
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 5 hours).
- Exceptional knife handling skills.
- Comply with all Health and Safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment as required.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and maneuver objects of up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
