- **About the Opportunity**:_
The Financial Performance Specialist is an integral member of the Finance team providing leadership for sound financial accounting services. Reporting to the Finance Manager this role is pivotal for accurate financial planning, audit, timely financial reporting and analysis.

They work in partnership with clinical and support service departments and are committed to data integrity, process improvement with an ability to see beyond the numbers. Provides business insights, and analytical supports for PSFDH while ensuring an effective system of financial controls for the Health Centre and its patients, staff, physicians.
- **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:_

**FINANCIAL PLANNING & BUDGET**
- Assist to coordinate with preparation of annual budgets (operational, capital) and forecasts in collaboration with internal stakeholders, Manager, and CFO.
- Designs, reviews and maintain budgeting systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Completion of the Ministry planning submissions for Senior Team, and Board.

**AUDIT**
- Assist with coordination of year end audit, completion of assigned working papers/schedules to support year end audited financial statements and special audits.
- Participate in identifying and implementing process improvements and opportunities to strengthen the organizations financial health, maintain sound internal controls and optimize financial reporting processes.

**FINANCIAL REPORTING & ANALYSIS**
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information and account reconciliations. Assist with monthly financial statements and supporting schedules Board and the Leadership team.
- Responsible for databases ensuring accuracy, distributes custom financial/statistical budget reports as necessary, and maintain systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provides customer support to internal departments for financial analysis. Meets regularly with designated department Managers as a financial consultant to review financial performance including departmental variance analysis and FTE utilization.
- Prepares timely financial and supporting statistical schedules which are used for internal analyses, indicator reporting, and evaluation of the PSFDH’s financial health by Ministry, Ontario Health and other funding agencies.
- Ensures the accuracy of data and adherence of the system to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and audits departmental financial/statistical data, identifies and corrects errors, identifies and computes accruals, applies accounting principles to transactions and recommends revisions in departmental accounting procedures ensuring alignment with applicable statutes (MIS, GAAP, PSFDH policies).
- Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Drives initiatives to improve financial, analytics and business insight processes and procedures improving data quality and reporting compliance i.e. payroll FTE reports, cost per patient day reporting.

**OTHER**
- Lead adhoc financial analysis requests providing insights to drive decision making. I.e. benchmarking
- Develops cash flow function
- Other duties as assigned including participating on special committees, assisting with onboarding and training of other departmental staff and leaders to meet financial/statistical reporting and documentation support requirements.
- **JOB SPECIFICATIONS**:_
- **Education**:_

Mandatory
- Graduate of a post-secondary accounting/business program.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or in the process of completing or equivalent work experience

Asset:

- Working knowledge of HealthCare information management standards such as the MIS/OHRS Reporting Standards, workload measurement systems and methodologies, patient-specific case costing methodologies (Ontario Case Costing Initiative) and health information databases.
