Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for providing recreation programming opportunities to NAIT students. This team offers active living opportunities to students to enhance campus vibrancy and overall experience outside the classroom. The role will work closely with the Recreation Supervisor and other Recreation Coordinator to ensure a shared focus on program creation and delivery. The role will also work closely with all coordinators and other departments at NAIT to offer diverse programs and events. In addition to leading sport programs at NAIT, this position will contribute to the ongoing success of large-scale recreation events across campus, outdoor programming and academic project support.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide on-going contributions to the development and completion of department objectives and key results
- Provide exceptional customer service to all participants, while ensuring their safety and wellbeing during programs and events
- Coordinate recreation programming for NAIT students
- Collaborate with peers on all campus recreation intramural sports and program offerings
- Oversee campus recreation Esports initiatives
- Oversee sport program instructional opportunities
- Collaborate with peers to provide outdoor programming and program project support
- Collaborate with peers to plan and execute large scale recreation events
- Collaborate with other departments across Students and Campus Life to diversify programming and reach
- Coordinate program registration and data collection
- Create opportunities for adaptive programs with a focus on access and inclusion
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to ensure recreation programming and services information is shared widely and available to NAIT students.
- Use a variety of methods and tools to engage and communicate programming to students. Experience with social media platforms and graphic creation software
- Supervision and scheduling of all student staff to support recreation programming and events
**Skills & Abilities**:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to easily build rapport
- Strong recreation background in post-secondary or municipal recreation setting
- In depth experience in recreation program implementation
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Highly organized and responsive, keen attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to promote recreation programming
- Robust knowledge of post-secondary recreation and active living best practices
**Qualifications**:
- Related post-secondary diploma
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Recreation & Leisure an asset
- Standard First Aid would be considered an asset
- 3+ years experience working in post-secondary recreation
- Equivalencies may be considered
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
**Remuneration**: $61,997.52 - $83,085.08 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Coordinator I).
- This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement._
