Job Summary
The Manager of Commercial Relations Coordinators (CRC) oversees a team responsible for managing land use discussions to support information gathering and assessments for large airport construction projects and major urban developments near NAV CANADA and airport infrastructure. The Manager ensures that land use proposals do not interfere with NAV CANADA’s communication, navigation, and surveillance systems, promoting the safe and efficient operation of Canada’s Air Navigation System (ANS).
The Manager acts as the primary contact for airports, airline customers, and stakeholders to address complex land use issues and explore commercial opportunities. The Manager ensures strong internal communication and alignment with land use stakeholders, enabling timely delivery of assessment results to project proponents.
The Manager contributes to strategic planning, aligning activities with regulatory, safety, and corporate standards. The Manager provides strategic recommendations to Senior Management and collaborates closely with internal departments to refine work plans. Through relationship-building, the Manager facilitates continuous improvement and protects the company’s reputation by overseeing projects and mitigating potential risks and costs.

In this role you will:
- Lead and manage the CRC team by setting clear priorities to safeguard NAV CANADA’s interests in safety, reputation, accessibility, and financial considerations from land use developments.
- Provide comprehensive training for new CRC staff, identify skill gaps, and recommend additional training, especially for new tools or processes.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
- Identify and implement process and tool enhancements, incorporating best practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for team-related matters.
- Review and approve all objection letters before CRC specialists communicate with land use proponents.
- Communicate CRC land use priorities to internal stakeholders, helping them prioritize projects, especially when there are backlogs or urgent timelines.
- Manage proponent expectations and influence internal group plans to consider stakeholder needs and priorities.
- Analyze information, including demand and capacity Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), to identify and assess business opportunities, value, costs, risks, and benefits, ensuring client requests align with business and strategic objectives.
- Develop methods to share short-, medium-, and long-term airport construction plans with internal departments, helping them align strategies and reduce operational impacts.
- Identify and lead discussions on cost recovery methods with internal stakeholders, ensuring consistency across national projects and adherence to corporate policies.
- Develop revenue budgeting strategies that adapt to changing conditions, protect stakeholder relationships, and consider potential impacts on NAV CANADA’s reputation.
- Contribute to the commercial relations business plan, ensuring alignment with corporate, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with airports, regulatory bodies, industry associations, airline operators, and internal departments.
- Represent NAV CANADA at industry events and working groups, aligning company objectives with stakeholder interests.
- Represent the industry in internal working groups, aligning stakeholders’ interests with company objectives.
- Collaborate with internal partners to conduct impact analyses and risk assessments, identifies, and prioritizes operational risks, recommending strategies to mitigate these risks and align with external stakeholders to support shared customer interests.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop strategies that support organizational goals, analyzing demand, capacity, and costs to make informed recommendations.
- Participate in resource planning and risk assessments to mitigate operational risks.
- Recommend feasibility studies to senior management, ensuring internal stakeholder capacity and timelines meet customer expectations.
- Support internal departments and Flight Information Regions (FIR) facing service delivery challenges by leveraging established industry relationships to find collaborative solutions.
