Ottawa, Canada Quast Excavating Full time

Quast Excavating is a residential & commercial excavating and construction company that specializes in all aspects of excavation, demolition and septic system installation. We are currently seeking one general labourer for our growing company. This position will be year round. Experience with excavation, operating and maintaining machinery or with septic system / site service installation is a bonus. Potential applicants should be energetic and motivated individuals comfortable working independently and with deadlines.

General Labourers for excavating and sewer/water crew to support the site foreman and machine operators as needed including:

- Performing manual labour tasks such as digging holes and trenches using hand tools or other machinery
- Preparing the site for construction by clearing away debris, leveling the ground, and removing any unwanted vegetation
- Loading and unloading of equipment and materials
- Assist in the installation of septic systems, pipes and other underground utilities
- Assist in the excavation of large-scale projects such as building foundations, demolitions, installation of septic system and site services

**Qualification requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid clean G driver’s lisence
- Able to lift 50 lbs + and meet physically demanding jobs / work in all weather
- Excellent time management skills
- The ability to problem-solve and stay focused in high-pressure situations
- Ability to understand and follow safety policies & procedures and ensure compliance in all areas of PPEs
- Experience working with and maintenance of tools and machinery (an asset)
- Ability to read drawings and interpret specifications for the project (an asset)
- Experience in septic/excavation type work (an asset)

Compensation
- $20-22/ hourly starting wage, depending on experience. Performance reviews for raises at 3 months and annually afterwards
- Benefits including medical, dental and vision after 3 months

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 45 per week
