Sandblaster/industrial Painter

Jewel Welding and Pipe Fab is seeking experienced Sand Blasters and Industrial Painters to join the team in Maple Ridge. These are full-time, year-round positions with plenty of opportunity for overtime. We are happy to consider Skilled Laborers who have a combination of experience related to Sandblasting or Industrial Painting.

**The Sandblaster** will primarily be responsible for cleaning and refurbishing metal pipe interiors and exteriors, and other surfaces using specialized equipment and techniques. This position is responsible for the operation of sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare metal surfaces for the next step in the production process.

**The Industrial Painter** is responsible for tending to and operating machines that spray/coat interiors and exteriors of metal pipes with paint. Responsibilities will include: identifying potential safety hazards, selecting or mixing the appropriate paint, and reading and interpreting blueprints. The Industrial Painter will inspect surfaces for contamination prior to coating and identify and employ methods that will reduce exposure to hazardous chemicals from the paint.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 2 years' related experience in sandblasting, industrial painting or equivalent.
- Completion of college/vocational or technical training in a related field.
- Knowledge of corrosion-control methods and processes.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Knowledge of controlling, adjusting, starting and stopping sandblasting equipment for both grinding and polishing processes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read blueprint instructions.
- Good time management skills and the ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Experience using a spray gun.
- WHMIS Certification.
- Must be able to carry and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 25 pounds.
- Must be able to distinguish colors.

Jewel Welding Pipe Fab & Coatings is a privately-owned company based in Maple Ridge, BC. Located on the Fraser River, our fabrication and coatings facility produces customized pipeline welding solutions for our clients including fabrication, spooling, alloy welding, and specialty coatings.

**Salary**: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
