Laboratory Analyst Iii Microbiology

EMSL Canada is currently seeking a Full Time **Laboratory Analyst III **specializing in** Microbiology** analysis for its Mississauga, ON laboratory location, a suburb of Toronto. EMSL Canada is a growing commercial environmental testing laboratory. **Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Analyze bacterial and fungal samples by classical and advanced methods.
Preparation and analysis of a variety environmental samples.
Maintaining the QA/QC Program and Standard Operating Procedures.
Qualitative and quantitative analysis of bacteria cultures to include common environmental bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, E.coli, Pseudomonas, Legionella, Bacillus, MRSA, Salmonella, Acinetobacter C diff and others.
Identification of environmental isolates utilizing biochemical tests, API, Biolog.
Laboratory organization, supply inventory, equipment calibrations and maintenance.
Analyze environmental microbiology sample analysis such as spore trap/direct examination and water analysis.
Assist with completion of internal/external proficiency testing and internal/external audits.
Assist with completion of QA/QC protocols, QC report preparation and delivery.
Assist in environmental microbiology reporting.
Autoclave duties, lab clean-up, in addition to working on special projects as assigned.
Additional duties include writing final reports, following quality control and client interactions.
Screen analytical reports for quality and send deliverables to client.
Provide guidance to other analysts and lab technicians; ensure best practices and SOPs are being followed.

**Requirements**:
Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology or life science and experience or a higher degree can be accepted in lieu of experience
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in testing clinical or environmental samples.
Some knowledge of quality regulations such as AIHA or CDC Environmental Legionella Isolation Techniques Evaluation.
Experience with the operation of fluorescence microscopy is a plus.
Experience with air samples, surface samples, food testing, bacteriology, and mycology is desirable.
Experience with USP 797 environmental testing, Efficacy Testing, and Biolog experience
Good Communication Skills (will have some client interaction).
Good Computer Skills both in Typing and MS Office.
Understanding of custody client confidentiality.
Able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work well under pressure and meet client deadlines.
Must be able to work some weekends and overtime if needed.

**Available Shift**:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
