**Job Description**:

**Position Summary**:
As an member of the Mental Health Program, the Mental Health Clinician for the Family and Child Team will provide care to patients between the ages 5-18 years old and their families in the Outpatient Clinic. The Family and Child Team consists of three clinicians and one psychiatrist who collaborate together to conduct assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and behaviour skills. The Clinicians respond to referrals and consultations by assessing patients and developing safety and other treatment plans, identify problem areas and establish measureable goals and objectives for patients. This will include implementing treatment as needed and documenting all findings, interventions, and outcomes. The Mental Health Clinician will participate in rounds and discharge planning as well as liaising with community agencies for services required post discharge. The Mental Health Clinician will provide psycho education and psychotherapy through individual therapy for patients and support for their family members. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

One (1) full-time Mental Health Family and Child Clinician position to work Monday through Friday.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of Masters in Social Work from accredited School of Social Work
- Must have extensive experience providing evidence based interventions and psychotherapy to children and their family ie CBT, DBT, Systemic Family Therapy
- Must have experience in Family and Child Mental Health treatment, delivery of skills and comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments.
- Must be able to document comprehensive assessments and treatment plans
- Must have a good understanding of current legislation related to; Mental Health Act, Healthcare Consent Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Privacy Act and Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
- Ability to effectively communicate ( written and verbal) and collaborate with patients, families, and community-based resources
- Must be able to work in a collaborative team model
- Organizational skills and the ability to work independently are necessary
- Demonstrates and models an awareness of and commitment to personal and professional development
- Meditech and Outlook experience preferred
- Must demonstrate ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
- The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation. Valid criminal record checks are in original format and dated with two months from date of conditional offer from CMH._
