**GCW is currently looking to add a Purchasing Agent to our team**

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the purchasing agent will be responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials to meet customer order requirements. Another key responsibility will be ensuring that regular inventory checks are completed to maintain stock inventory levels within approved guidelines.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities and the supply chain activities of the organization
- Create and maintain stock inventory spreadsheets to ensure inventory management and control
- Prepare and administer bids, requests for quote, requests for proposal, requests for information, and other vendor documentation
- Organize, coordinate, and periodically conduct physical inspections of inventory levels across the company; update and maintain ERP system as required
- Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization; ensure service requests are prioritized and expedited
- Stay current with internal and external factors impacting procurement function; source the most optimal suppliers
- Monitor pricing contracts with key suppliers, tracking and communicating price increases to affected departments

**Preferred skills and abilities**:

- Experience working with various materials such as wood, MDF, laminates etc.
- Completion of Post-Secondary degree or diploma, preferably in supply chain or a related field
- Previous experience and/or training in supply management
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities with mínimal supervision
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
