Role Summary:
The HESS Coordinator is accountable to the Manager, Safety & Quality. Primary accountabilities are, but is not limited to:

- Development and execution of tactical and strategic plans to improve HESS performance
- Manage the HESS training program, including new hire, job-specific contractor and required refresher training
- Manage the site HESS Committee
- Manage site incident and injury reporting, carry out formal HESS investigations
- Manage site HESS communications
- Assist in the management of worker’s compensation claims and the site return to work program
- Manage the site waste management program
- Manage the site security program
- Manage site hazard assessments
- Manage site emergency response programs

Key Responsibilities:

- Facilitating monthly HESS inspections and involving key operational personnel when carrying out inspections
- Assisting in the base / facility HESS indoctrination training for all new staff
- Arrange HESS meetings as instructed by the accountable executive and/or safety and quality manager
- Maintaining safety bulletin boards to ensure effective communication of HESS-related performance data, including progress made with HESS objectives
- Disseminating HESS references and material, as instructed by accountable executive and/or safety and quality manager
- Leading HESS investigations, as directed
- Encourage a proactive reporting culture on HESS related issues
- Maintain a current appropriate level of first aid qualification and liaise with other first aiders to ensure first aid kits are maintained and kept in date, including emergency spill response kits
- Monitoring waste management arrangements to ensure ongoing compliance with waste
- segregation procedures
- Advising the general manager, safety and quality manager, on matters concerning SMS at the base
- Keeping abreast of changes in local HESS laws and regulations and ensure Company policies and procedures are aligned with them
- Developing and revise local HESS standards in coordination with the global HESS standards committee

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

- Minimum of 5 year’s experience is a HESS leadership role
- Understanding of local HESS laws and regulations
- Previous auditing experience, preferred
- Excellent collaborative skills for Human factors analysis and guidance on corrective action.
- Strong technical writing abilities for company policies, standards, processes and work instructions.
- Self motivated and results oriented with a focus on keeping personnel safe.
- Ability to make excellent decisions and set appropriate priorities.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication.
- Ability to work in a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills.
