Multicultural Community Outreach Worker

The Multicultural Outreach Community Worker must be proficient in English as well as Somali/ Sudanese and/or other African languages. She will provide individual and/or group support and advocacy with immigrant, refugee, visible minority, no immigration status women and their children who are facing gender-based/ family violence.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Relevant university Certificate in Social Work/Counselling, one-year relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
**Other Qualifications**:
- Knowledge of dynamics of gender-based violence, and acculturation issues impacting immigrant, refugee and visible minority women and their children
- Experience in providing supportive counselling.
- Experience in organizing and conducting support groups.
- Experience in advocating on behalf of vulnerable populations.
- Ability to be empathetic and sensitive to socio-economic and ethno-cultural values.
- Effective cross-cultural communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Knowledge of other languages an asset
- Knowledge of relevant resources
- Ability to work effectively with other professionals in the community
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Pay: $27.54-$31.61 per hour
Expected hours: 14 - 35 per week
