The Fuel Bay Attendant - Team Lead ensures transit vehicles are ready and available to meet daily service requirements by performing general fuelling and fluid level maintenance duties.
- The hours for this position are Monday
- Friday from 4:30pm
- 11:00pm and will require to work some statutory holidays.**Responsibilities**:
Manage daily bus fuelling operations to ensure that transit vehicles are ready for daily service levels by:

- Dispensing fuel and oil into buses within the bus barns; checking radiators, fan belts, hoses and tires; checking fluid levels and products used; and recording pertinent vehicle data such as kilometers and engine hours. Recording performed services on appropriate forms.
- Performing general repairs on bus wash equipment to maintain its functionality.
- Performing exterior washing of transit vehicles as required.

Preparing a safe, clean and presentable work site for staff by:

- Cleaning and washing of floors around the fuelling station on a daily basis.
- Ensuring all fluid spills in the bus storage area are cleaned up as per Standard Operating Procedures which comply with OH&S requirements.
- Doing routine maintenance and repairs to bus washing equipment to ensure its safe operation.
- Operating vehicles within and around the Transit property ensuring that good driving practices are adhered to.

Supervise bus fuelling staff for the purpose of creating a high performance team by:

- Determining fuelling staff shift requirements and scheduling shifts accordingly.
- Assessing and monitoring bus fuelling requirements making sure that work assigned is done fairly and equitably.
- Ensuring that bus fuelers are assigned extra work effectively with considerations being given to service requirements and proper extra work staff rotation.
- Ensuring work assignments follow OH&S regulations and employment standards as per government labor regulations and employment guidelines of Strathcona County.
- Serving as the primary point of contact in working with supervisory staff in resolving concerns related to bus fuelling services.
- Working with management in establishing and overseeing goals and objectives for the bus fuelling work unit.
- Verifying the work of subordinate staff; ensuring adherence to established guidelines, rules and regulations; assisting in evaluating the performance of staff.
- Providing accurate and timely information, as required, to other transit operational work units.
- Maintaining and ordering inventory (i.e.: bus wash soap / DEF) as required to meet the daily service needs.
- Assisting in identifying potential equipment needs for annual budgetary purposes.
- Performing other tasks as required.

Supervising cash vault removal from buses ensuring that the process is conducted safely and securely by:

- Assigning competent staff, in pairs, to ensure that cash vaults are removed and exchanged within each bus accurately and securely.
- Supervising the transportation of full fare box vaults to the primary vault in a safe and secure manner.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Exhibit initiative while fuelling Transit vehicles and equipment in identifying potential defaults or other conditions which may cause buses to incur equipment break-down, and recording these defaults on defect sheets for Fleet maintenance to conduct corrective action.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the bus fuelling sequence in relation to its impact on Dispatch’s scheduling of the proper morning bus barn line-up to meet service requirements.
- Within 6 months of employment, must have an understanding of OH&S, WHMIS and Transit Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) regulations as it pertains to the scope of work in fuelling buses.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum High School Diploma with 5 years of related work experience preferably within a heavy equipment fuelling and maintenance industry.
- An understanding of Strathcona County Transit’s conventional bus and mobility bus fuelling procedures and specifications.
- Complete understanding of Strathcona County Transit’s “Best Practices” for not only maintaining but meeting or exceeding expectations for bus preparedness.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must possess a valid Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License - Class “2” with “Q” air brake endorsement

**Conditions of Employment**:

- Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Valid Alberta Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
