The Cultural Connector role is a unique position designed to connect and support Indigenous youth/families in transitioning to Ross Sheppard for the 2025 school year and supporting graduation and career pathways. The Cultural Connector will collaborate with the Ross Sheppard team to meet the needs of students in providing relevant indigenous cultural supports and activities that will foster reconciliation between indigenous communities and Ross Sheppard High School. The Cultural Connector will engage with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers to facilitate culturally appropriate workshops and ceremonies that will engage youth and families in leadership and education. The approach to providing cultural services on site at Ross Sheppard will take a collaborate with the school team to foster and support cultural services.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide/arrange opportunities for youth to learn about their culture.
- Work with youth to establish/maintain connection to their culture, family and community.
- Access to Cree and Metis Knowledge Keepers
- Provide access to Sweats/Round Dance/Family Nights in the community and in the school when possible.
- Build relationships with Indigenous communities.
- Establish relationships with community partners.
- Create sustainable access for youth to community resources and learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with Ross Sheppard to Provide land-based teachings.
- Facilitate and provide Cultural teachings and workshops to the youth we serve.
- Indigenous graduation support.
- Ensure completion of contact notes and other administrative duties.
- Be willing to work some evenings and weekends when required.

**Qualifications**:

- Human Services Diploma/Degree; equivalencies will be considered.
- Knowledge in the Indigenous culture and traditions.
- Minimum 2 years experience working with indigenous youth and families is an asset.
- Fluent in Cree language/syllabics is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and willing to obtain drivers abstract.
- A criminal record check with vulnerable sector and Intervention Record check, valid within a maximum of 6 months are required for employment.

**Salary and Benefits**:

- Salary plus monthly Auto allowance up to $150.00 p/month.
- Paid Sick and wellness days after 3-month probationary period (pro-rated).
- Extended health benefits after 6 months’ employment.
- Working approximately 38 & 31 hours per week.
- Accelerated Day Off every other Friday.

This position is to start as soon as possible.

**Schedule**: Day shift, be willing to work some evenings and weekends when required

Pay: $4,435.97-$4,657.77 per month
