**Overview**

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- To welcome families to schools in Miramichi
- Prepare information and orientation sessions for newcomer students and parents to inform them on topics related to the school system
- Facilitate communication and constructive relationships between school personnel and newcomer families
- Coordinate cross-cultural training for students, volunteers, and school system staff
- Assist with the planning and coordination of cross-cultural outreach activities and promote openness to diversity in schools
- Participate in the development of program communication tools (website, information kit, etc.) and promote them to families
- Write activity reports as required by funders

**Qualifications and Skills**
- One (1) year of post-secondary studies in a discipline related to the position is an asset
- Two (2) years of experience in a discipline deemed relevant to the position is an asset
- Other education and/or experience will also be considered
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Familiarity with social media management
- Show patience and respect for newcomers
- Lead, plan, and organize projects and services
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Partner and work with other community organizations and immigration service providers at the local and provincial levels
- Work under limited supervision, as well as be part of a team
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to build trusting relationships with various stakeholders
- Make presentations, convey information, and plan and execute meetings and events
- Demonstrate sound judgment and conflict resolution skills in an intercultural context

**Requirements**:

- A criminal background check is a condition of employment
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle in order to travel between schools in the area

The position is full-time (37.5 hrs/week) and provides a competitive salary.

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

- MIRAMICHI, NB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
