Turning Point Youth Services, a multi-faceted and dynamic agency Accredited with Children's Mental Health Ontario, is committed to responding pro-actively and individually to the life challenges facing each of our clients. We are actively seeking 2 qualified and dedicated staff members to join our youth justice mental health treatment program as well as our transitional housing program as Awake Overnight Youth Workers.

This person will work awake overnight shifts from Sunday night ending Friday morning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide direct, quality care and supervision to youth in a residential environment.
- Ensure the safety and security of the residents in the facility.
- Complete reports and documentation as needed.
- Participate in the daily operation of the facility.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- University or College degree/diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or equivalent.
- At least 1 year relevant experience working with youth, preferably in a residential setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of the complex issues and challenges facing our clients.
- Appreciation of the importance of engaging youth and families from a strengths-based relationship based approach
- Sensitivity to and ability to work with a diverse client and staff group.
- Good communication skills - verbal and written.
- Good administrative and computer skills.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Valid “Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour” certification.
- Valid “First Aid/CPR” certification.
- Completion of required suicide prevention and intervention training.
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 with a Health Canada approved vaccination series.

These are collective bargaining unit positions within CUPE Local 3501.

- This role works in person awake overnight shifts from Sunday night to Friday morning, an 8 hours shift. Will you be able to reliably attend these shifts?
- Do you have a university or college degree/diploma in Child & Youth Care or a Bachelor of Social Work? This is a MANDATORY requirement in order to be considered for a position. Applicants without this education will not be eligible for the position.

Licence/Certification:

- UMAB (preferred)
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- ASIST or other suicide intervention training (preferred)
