Skilled Carpenter

Songwood Contracting Ltd is a Gananoque-based construction company that is currently seeking an experienced skilled carpenter for custom renovations, additions and outdoor living projects.

Founded in 2017, Songwood Contracting operates out of Gananoque and serves clients throughout the 1000 Islands, Kingston, and Leeds and Grenville United Counties. We are a full-service residential contractor offering a range of customizable services to fit our clients’ needs.

Much of the work you will be doing will be interesting and rewarding as no two projects are the same. We are proud of the fact that our crew of 17 work year-round. **Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Interpret blueprints and drawings to plan and execute projects for renovations and new builds.
- Measure and cut wood or other materials according to specifications.
- Install and repair structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, frames, flooring, and trim for both renovations and new builds.
- Install and repair cabinets, shelving units, and other furniture pieces for both renovations and new builds.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians and plumbers, to ensure that all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
- Inspect work to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- Communicate with clients and project managers to ensure that all work is completed according to specifications and timelines.
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior carpenters.

**Requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge of carpentry techniques and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is a must.

**Experience**:

- Carpentry: 3 years (required)

Depending on skill level and experience, we are offering between to $24 - $30/hr.
You must have your own vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
