Position Information

**Position Title**
- Residence Operations Coordinator**Position Summary**
- The Residence team at Red Deer Polytechnic invites you to join them as a Permanent, Full-time Residence Operations Coordinator.
- The Residence Operations Coordinator assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Residence and Accommodation Services department at Red Deer Polytechnic. The Coordinator is responsible for providing a safe, learner-centered environment focused on the success of students living in the Residence community and an environment of service excellence for all residents and short-term stay guests.
- The incumbent will be responsible for effective and efficient financial coordination of the yearly Residence and Accommodation Services budget, in addition to the coordination of the renovations and replacement budget. The Residence Operations Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of the personnel in the Residence operation.
- The Residence Operations Coordinator will be directly involved in Student conduct in the Residences by coordinating the Polytechnic’s response to student conduct issues according to RDP- policy.**Position Responsibilities**

**Staff Leadership and Human Resources**
- Recruits, selects and supervises staff in compliance with Human Resource policies and procedures, FOIPP and collective agreements in partnership with the Manager, Conference and Accommodation Services
- Plans, organizes and coordinates formal and informal orientation and training
- Conducts performance enhancement process in accordance with standard practice and collective agreements. Initiates disciplinary process in compliance with Collective Agreements and RDP policies within scope of authority

**Operation, Budget & System Management**
- Completes a Market Analysis of community rental rates and vacancy rates in order to recommend Residence rental rates
- Prepares the annual operating budget including revenue projections and operating expenditure alongside Manager of Conference and Accommodation Services
- Manages the annual budget for the replacement of equipment, appliances and furniture
- Completes regular financial projections of revenues and expenditures; Adjusts the expenditures to ensure a balanced budget at the end of the fiscal year
- Purchases goods and services in compliance with regulations and laws and the RDP Disbursement Manual. Issues and tracks Standing Purchase Orders and Purchase Requisitions when purchasing goods and services

**Residence Student Conduct**
- Mediates roommate conflicts in addition to Resident Assistant intervention. Advises students with personal concerns and/or refers them to the appropriate College or Community resource
- Tracks student violations and communicate with students about violations on a consistent basis
- Makes decisions about discipline issues such as Residence Probation and Evictions

**Administrative Responsibilities**
- Keeps detailed documentation of all relevant interactions with students
- Assists Residence staff with office responsibilities including Residence Move-In, Residence Unit Inspections/Check-Out, Postings, and payments
- Responsible for Residence invoicing for Group Guest Accommodations

**Required Qualifications**

**Education**
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of University in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent
- Standard First aid & CPR

**Experience**
- **T**hree years in a University/College Residence setting
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Supervisory position

**Experience in the following**:

- Presentation and/or training experience
- Previous experience working with students and/or student leaders
- Solve complex and sensitive problems and situations with a high degree of professionalism and a customer focus.
- Highly motivated, positive, energetic and able to work in an intense, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities; ability to work under pressure with many competing deadlines.
- Above average understanding of financial processes
- Able to maintain confidentiality and deal with stressful and sensitive situations in a professional, customer oriented, and tactful manner.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
- Financial Management including experience with Banner
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; effective listening
- Organizational, prioritizing and planning skills
- Complex problem solving skills
- Experience working with relevant legislation such as the Residential Tenancies Act, Human Rights Legislation and FOIPP
