Surveyor Marine
- PRIMARY PURPOSE: To inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded.
- Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
- ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Travels as required.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Experience
Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Skills & Knowledge
- Good oral and written communication skills
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
- Good customer service skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
