**The Role**

Reporting to the Business Director, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for maintaining all aspects of accounts payable and receivable functions for our multiple business entities. With strong analytical skills and attention to detail, the position will process invoices and receivables while working collaboratively with the business units to ensure adherence to our internal financial procedures.

**Expectations for the Role**

Accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions including:

- receiving and verifying vendor invoices or expense claims, receiving appropriate approvals, coding and entering data into accounting software
- Issuing Associate payroll calculations
- Coordinating with external auditors
- Managing weekly cheque run for mailing
- Generating cash flow reports & monitoring
- Month-end reporting
- Assisting with budgets
- Manages and responds to vendor inquiries
- Completion of bank, credit and other account reconciliations
- Responsible for financial record-keeping, including the processing of payables, receivables and recording of general journal entries
- Ongoing maintenance of accounting documents and related files
- Prepares statistical, financial and other accounting reports
- Other related accounting duties, as assigned

**Required Education**:

- Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, **Bookkeeping or related education is an asset.**

**Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills**:

- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar capacity
- Good understanding of accounting principles and basic accounting skills
- Experience with accounting system software QBO
- Detail oriented and excellent analytical skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects within critical timelines
- Ability to make sound, independent judgements within scope of authority
- Ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced work environment
- Well-developed interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating a friendly and courteous attitude towards colleagues

**Qualifications**:
- Experience with Quickbooks Online Accounting Software
