Under the general direction of the Independent Power & Renewable Gas Strategies Section Head, the Energy Market Analyst will be
responsible for administering Manitoba Hydro's distributed generation initiatives (e.g. residential and small commercial solar and
wind). They will be responsible for conducting market research in support of the Independent Power Officer and the EM Strategy
Officer, along with providing backup to the Senior Business Analyst - Supply and Senior Business Analyst - Pricing by conducting
detailed supply and pricing analysis. They will be responsible to develop and enhance customer relationships with key distributed
generation stakeholders while staying informed on market and technology developments in the renewable energy industry.

**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Ongoing administration of the growing number of distributed generation projects including customer communications,

database management, ensuring Excess Energy Purchase Agreements are in place and making appropriate process
improvements, using data driven decision making, to improve customer satisfaction.
- Conduct market research for a broad range of renewable and carbon neutral technologies (e.g., wind, solar, battery,

hydrogen, etc.) in support of the Independent Power Officer and the EM Strategies Officer - Renewable Natural Gas &
Hydrogen.
- Perform detailed product (capacity, dependable and surplus energy) supply analyses and develop scenarios and sensitivities

incorporating Manitoba Hydro's hydraulic resources, independent power, and imports as well as load, Demand Side
Management, and existing export commitments.
- Ensure all supply assumptions are kept current with MH internal and external forecasts by coordinating closely with other

departments.
- Perform detailed product (capacity, energy, renewable natural gas, hydrogen) pricing analysis and develop various scenarios

and sensitivities for a variety of market conditions to assess price risk.
- For all proposals, document the analysis and present assumptions, risks, risk mitigation strategies and recommendations to

management for review.
- Support the preparation of pricing recommendation, executive recommendations, briefing notes and other executive reports

as requested including presenting to senior management and executive.

- Responsible to update Manitoba Hydro's related external webpages and other types of customer touch points as necessary.
- Keep abreast of the evolving carbon neutral and renewable energy landscape and represent Manitoba Hydro at tradeshows,
- conferences, and industry groups.- Collaborate closely with the Internal Resource Planning, Indigenous & Community Relations, Legal, Customer Billing, Energy

Markets Accounting, Customer Strategy & Experience, Enterprise Risk Management, and Sales/Mktg & Product
Development.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- Completion of a four-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant discipline from an institute of

recognized standing with a minimum of six years of related experience.
OR
- An equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Experience conducting market research.
- Familiarity with new and emerging energy technologies along with an understanding of wind, solar, battery storage, biomass,
- small modular nuclear reactors, and thermal generation is considered an asset.- Possess a high degree of initiative, creativity, a demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment, a
