Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of experience as a software developer or equivalent technical experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience speaking at technology conferences, blogging/writing technical articles with an existing follower base, or contributing to popular open source projects
- 3 years of experience as a technical practitioner developing software for the cloud or working with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra or others)
- Ability to build effective relationships and work cross-functionally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the desire to share technical knowledge and information with others
**About the job**:
As a Cloud Advocate for Databases, you’ll join a team of practitioners that empathize with external technical communities, and advocate on their behalf to the Google Cloud Product and Engineering teams, ensuring that our products are built to meet the community's needs and that they provide the best possible user and developer experiences. You’ll work to raise awareness cloud database technologies and methodologies within our technical communities through enablement and inspiration, and you’ll help drive strategy around Google Developer Relations efforts for specific communities and products. You’ll use your practitioner knowledge and empathy for your community in order to define product strategies and to craft narratives around new products and technologies, both meeting technical practitioners where they are going and to get to where they need to be.
**Responsibilities**:
- Participate in technical communities as a practitioner having, or developing, a deep understanding of that community’s needs, specifically around data management.
- Represent the needs of technical communities throughout the entire product life cycle, including input on design discussions, customer zero testing, launch, and post-launch updates.
- Advocate for your community internally and influence Google Cloud product strategy by working with Product, Development, PR, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams.
- Acquire and synthesize feedback and sentiment in order to drive continuous improvement to Google Cloud Platform products and to the overall experience of the platform had by technical practitioners.
- Work with Product and Development teams to define strategies and craft narratives around new products and features.
