Summary:
Reporting to the VP of Mission, Ethics & Spirituality, the Director of Spiritual Health & Pastoral Care is responsible for providing leadership, direction and expertise in Spirituality and Pastoral Care for PHC within the framework of a Catholic health care organization.
The Director of Spiritual Health & Pastoral Care Care is responsible for managing, developing, implementing and evaluating spiritual and religious care within all PHC sites. This includes ensuring that the spiritual and religious needs of patients, residents, their families/friends, staff and volunteers are met. As a Director, the principal responsibilities include: planning, developing, implementing and evaluating Spiritual Health Services, both long range and short term, business and other strategies to meet the on-going needs, changes and challenges of Spiritual Health services; providing clinical supervision and evaluation of all Spiritual Health Practitioners staff and students; planning, organizing and directing Clinical Pastoral Educational Programs; developing and managing budgets and related financial responsibilities; and developing, implementing and participating in research studies/programs that examine and advance the role and practice of Spiritual/Religious Care in health care from an evidence based perspective. Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the position classification, as assigned or requested. Performs direct spiritual health activities as needed.
Qualifications / Skills and Education:
**Education, Training and Experience**
Masters in Theology or Divinity plus seven (7) years progressively responsible experience including several years in a leadership and supervisory role. Successful completion of specialist status (or equivalent) in Clinical Pastoral Education, including a certified residency program within a hospital (or equivalent). Current membership in good standing in CASC, including endorsement by a recognized religious or faith group. An equivalent combination of education, certification and experience may be considered. **CASC certified “supervisors “preferred**.

- Demonstrates understanding of the principles of adult education and practices; possesses affinity for teaching.
- Demonstrates responsiveness to the need for appropriate spiritual care that is provided with sensitivity, openness and respect within the context of a multi-cultural, multi-faith milieu, which includes diverse expressions of spirituality.
- Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including management and staff at all levels of the organization, as well as academic and religious institutions and other health care organizations.
- Ability to travel and work flex hours as needed, to manage and attend related events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
**Program Leadership/Management**
1. Collaborates with the Spiritual Health leadership team to establish the goals and objectives for the Spiritual Health and Pastoral Care portfolio consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Directions for the organization. Leads the development of policies, procedures and standards to support the delivery of these goals and ensure consistency of practices.
2. Builds strong interdisciplinary relationships and collaborates with identified leaders such as Program Directors, Operations Leaders, Physician Leaders and community partners to ensure delivery of focused care to patients/residents/families across the continuum of needs. Develop mechanisms to ensure appropriate input and feedback into the service from all stakeholders.
3. Develops and implements the annual operating plan. Identifies/determines types of programs/services to be provided and coordinates Spiritual Health and Pastoral Care responses to site/employee groups, as needed.
