Metalec Sudbury Inc., a leading manufacturer of industrial switchgear solutions for the mining industry, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. This critical role will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and services necessary for our manufacturing operations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manage the procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
- Research and identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate contracts and pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaborative partnerships.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to optimize purchasing strategies and minimize stockouts.
- Analyze market trends and commodity pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, production, etc.) to understand their needs and ensure timely fulfillment.
- Manage purchase orders, track shipments, and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant industry regulations.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and purchasing software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Post-secondary education in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
