French Speaking Pre-school Assistant

Assist the teacher, Speak French to the children. Provide a quality caring and supportive child care program to members of the Blaisdale Montessori School community that addresses their unique child care needs.
Assist the teacher in Providing a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities -Encourage and assist children to practice self help
- Ensure guidance of children’s behaviour that encourages positive self-concept - Set reasonable behaviour expectations consistent with center’s philosophy and policies
- Provide positive guidelines such as redirecting, positive language, and positive reinforcement - Immediately address problem behaviour without labelling the child
- Follow behaviour guidance and policies established by the School and consistent with accepted practice in the field
Ensure the child’s environment is healthy and safe
- Carry out the responsibilities assigned to you - Attend required staff meetings - Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the School’s children, their parents, and staff - Maintain regular attendance and punctuality Maintain a positive working relationship with other Blaisdale Montessori School staff
Carry out a daily activity schedule that incorporates child directed activity, care routines and transition times
Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions or comments that extend conversations
- Maintenance of the class and children’s areas, cleaning of community areas when required. Ensure that the building, materials and playground are clean, safe and maintained.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children. Follow the direction of the Administrator.
Model and facilitate positive techniques for conflict resolution. Adhere to a policy of confidentiality and respect regarding issues with students, the school families and other staff members.
May be requested to assist in hot lunch duties and assist in another class; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
**Salary**: From $17.15 per hour
