**Company Overview**

**Job Summary**

The Accounting Manager will be an integral part of the Finance department as well as the business unit. This role works with a high degree of autonomy in performing accounting and financial activities for the company and requires strong analytic and reasoning skills to determine the best outcome when faced with uncertainty.

**Essential Duties / Responsibilities**:

- Provide guidance to senior management on matters relating to finance and operational efficiency.
- Create annual budgets through divisional co-ordination.
- Manage and mitigate financial risk factors.
- Act as primary contact with corporate accounting personnel during financial audits and reviews of divisional performance.
- Coordinate preparation of audit support schedules, assuring adequate review of schedules for accuracy.
- Keep management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports, summarizing information, and identifying trends, ultimately with the goal of making recommendations.
- Prepare, either directly or through the guidance/supervision of subordinates, reports summarizing and forecasting divisional business activity and financial position in the areas of revenue, costs, expenses, and earnings based on past, current, and projected operations.
- Meet divisional and corporate reporting timelines and standards for accounting accuracy.
- Ensure security, integrity, and confidentiality of financial data.
- Perform review and analysis of special projects and keep the management properly informed.
- Ensure smooth month end close, including correcting sales update errors and reconciling key GL accounts with subledgers.
- Prepare P&Ls monthly and as needed for forecast updates throughout the year.
- Approve and Post Journal Entries for Accounting Team.
- Co-ordinate with external auditors to complete year-end audit by a set deadline.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- 3-5 years in a senior role within a finance department.
- 2 years in a leadership role is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance;
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or actively pursuing.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of JDE / AS400 an asset.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 months

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year

Additional pay:

- Retention bonus

- Peterborough, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
