Champlain College Lennoxville is seeking the services of a DATA PROCESSING TECHNICIAN, PRINCIPAL CLASS, to work on a full-time basis for the department of Information Technology.

FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Coordinator of Information Technology, the incumbent will be responsible for providing data processing support to Regular Day computer labs as well as to various administrative departments and services. Support will include installation, maintenance, and operation of computers, workstations, peripherals and networks, as well as the physical set-up of labs. The incumbent will also provide technical support to all users on computer network as well as other telecommunication systems.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Infrastructure management
a. Monitoring and configuration of the college’s internal networks.
b. Assists in maintaining, updating and optimizing the WIFI system.
c. Assists in maintaining, updating and optimizing the Telephony system.
d. Maintaining, updating and optimizing the printer & MFP fleet
e. Assists in maintaining, updating and optimizing network security and integrity.
f. Maintains the equipment in the server room including proper wiring and cable management
g. Tracking, inventory, and renewal planification for licensing, maintenance contracts, and warranties of infrastructure hardware and software.
h. Tracking, inventory, and renewal planification or all SSL certificates owned by the college.
i. Firewall configuration and maintenance: Internal and External
j. Maintenance and updates of virtual and physical servers, hosted locally and on the cloud
k. In collaboration with Bishops University IT, assist in maintaining and optimization of the shared network infrastructure of BU owned spaces for Champlain users.

2. Respond to user requests:
a. Carry out different operations in order to respond to users’ requests;
b. Verify all pending requests;
c. Evaluate the problem or the need identified by the user;
e. Attempt to resolve the incident or problem or transfer it to upper hierarchy using the ticketing system;
f. Ensure the client/user is satisfied with the service and do all necessary follow ups.
g. Assists at the IT-Help desk when required.

3. Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of materials and software of the different technological devices of the College:
a. Install and configurate different software.
b. Prepare, install and support equipment configuration respecting the Colleges’ rules and procedures.
c. Install software, make different updates and ensure they are functioning well.
d. Detect performance issues and make the necessary recommendations to improve their functioning.
e. Collaborate to the need analysis for the purchase of equipment and software.
f. Ensure that the policy on equipment utilization is followed.
g. Create, if needed, scripts and tools on the management of equipment.

4. Maintain an inventory system and location of technological equipment.

5. Insure programming and deployment of software configurations (SCCM, Intune)

6. Assume responsibility for technical assistance as well as repair on printers and other equipment and make service calls, if needed.

8. Participate in the establishment of new work methods and new technologies.

9. Perform all other related duties, as required by the Coordinator of Information Technology

**Requirements**:
Education
Must possess a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority and have 4 years experience as a Data Processing Technician or in a similar position.

Competencies
Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate in both English and French (oral and written).
Must be proficient in Macintosh and Microsoft networking software.
Must be knowledgeable in computer programming and system analysis.
Must demonstrate good PC and Macintosh troubleshooting skills.

**Work Schedule**: Monday to Friday, 8:30 until 4:30

**Salary Scale**: $27.01 to $38.87
