**Position Summary**

The main purpose of the Kanien’kehá:ka Curriculum Consultant role is to support and consult all schools of the Kahnawà:ke school system in the development, implementation and evaluation of N-11 cultural curriculum, rooting all disciplines within the KEC Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Program. In collaboration with the KEC Curriculum Team and the schools, the consultant develops the curriculum and essential learning outcomes to ensure a cohesive program from nursery to Grade 11, aligned with the KEC Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Education Program. Responsibilities

**Responsibility 1: Curriculum (60%)**
- To ensure the curriculum and programs are reflective of the philosophy, mission and goals of the Kahnawà:ke Education Center.
- To ensure the implementation of the KEC Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Curriculum framework as well as support the growth of existing and new KEC curriculum.
- To identify, develop and support the implementation of curriculum for the explorations and electives at the Kahnawake Survival School.
- To update the course descriptions, essential learning outcomes (ELOs), scope and sequence charts, and assessments for the explorations and electives at the Kahnawake Survival School in collaboration with identified staff.
- To incorporate the natural world, hands-on, project-based and Haudenosaunee cultural learning approaches within the curriculum in alignment with the KEC Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Education Program.
- To provide cultural support and mentorship to teachers by sharing and modeling sound pedagogical practices in alignment with the curriculum guides.
- To identify and seek out tools, professional development and resources needed to support teachers in implementing essential learning outcomes.
- To identify and engage community knowledge holders to support the development and implementation of cultural programs and curriculum in all KEC schools.
- To identify, establish and prepare culturally aligned instructional materials and resources that enhance Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten cultural program.
- To identify, forecast and recommend professional development that would support the implementation of new and existing curriculum and programming.
- To maintain a catalogue of cultural programs and curriculum resources as well as evidence of implementation.
- To consult with the Curriculum Team Coordinator on all matters related to curriculum, education projects, programs, etc.

**Responsibility 2: Assessments and Measurements (20%)**
- To develop culturally based assessment tools that take into account the holistic development of the student and Onkwehón:we ways of knowing.
- To determine, implement, and monitor assessment tools and benchmarks in order to track students’ school performance and the impacts of cultural programs and content.
- To contribute to the completion of curriculum-related projects, reports and assessments within assigned time frames.
- To review, revise, support and implement an assessment process that reflects curriculum standards related to program effectiveness and student progress.

**Responsibility 3: Collaboration (20%)**
- To support the implementation of the Karonhianónhnha Immersion curriculum through a N-K Forest and place-based approach in alignment with the KEC Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Program.
- To provide mentorship and support to teachers for the implementation of culturally aligned pedagogies.
- To work in partnership with interdisciplinary teams comprised of school representatives, coordinators, consultants, etc. in order to support school goals and implementation of the Skátne Enionkwaió’ten Community Language Plan.
- Collaborate with curriculum consultants to ensure consistency across disciplines.
- To collaborate with internal departments and external organizations when necessary and in relation to curriculum planning.
- To perform any other non-recurrent job-related duties as required by the immediate supervisor.

- Expertise in developing educational programming rooted in Indigenous pedagogy and Haudenosaunee culture, teachings and worldview.
- Superior oral and written communication skills in English in addition to advanced Kanien’keha proficiency.
- Creativity, proactive approach and innovation

**Education, Knowledge & Experience**
- Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development OR Bachelor’s Degree in Education with five (5) years’ experience in Curriculum dev
