Tot Spot Academy is looking for a energetic chef to join our team.

Hours are flexible to fit your needs as long as snacks and lunch are prepared on time (9:30, 11:30, 2:30).

Responsibilities include:

- Prepping, cooking, baking and portioning on meals for daycare center on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure safe food storage and disposal; includes taking daily logs of food temperature and refrigerator/freezer temperatures. Following the FIFO (First in First Out) rule and rotating inventory as required.
- Collecting, washing and sanitizing classroom dishes.
- Prepare weekly grocery list based on monthly menu
- Flexibility to prepare monthly menu based on food guide requirements/
- Responsible for putting away all deliveries without breaking the cold chain for freezer/fridge items and the storage of all dry goods.
- Ensure effective cost control by minimizing waste, proper food allocation, controlling food inventories and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Complies with all health and hygiene requirements under all food safety and handling legislation.
- Oversees kitchen operations including scheduled cleaning and sanitizing of appliances, counters, cupboards and drawers.

Job Requirements:

- High School diploma/GED equivalency required; College/University coursework in culinary related program preferred.
- Current Food Handler Certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in a daycare environment preference for those who have obtained a Level 1 Childcare Certification.
- Experience working in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequently.
- Excellent organization skills, detail oriented and a strong team player.
- Clean criminal record and child welfare check.
- Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19.
