One of Abilities Centre’s signature programs is the Academy for Student Athlete Development (ASAD).
ASAD was designed to provide targeted athletic, academic, and psychosocial support in a high-performance daily training environment to student athletes as they strive to achieve success at provincial, national, international, and post secondary levels of competition. In alignment with the vision and mission of Abilities Centre, ASAD provides one of the most unique and inclusive models to support student athletes on able-bodies, parasport and Special Olympic pathways, aiming to remove barriers and create equitable access to opportunities for sport participation for all.
Proposal Required
Abilities Centre and the Academy for Student Athlete Development (ASAD) are excepting proposals from qualified professionals interested in Coaching and Technical Delivery of the ASAD Rugby Skills Technical Stream starting in September 2025. The proposal needs highlight knowledge and expertise in working with high school aged student athletes in the talent development phase of the high-performance pathway.
ASAD Rugby Skills Technical training sessions will be delivered at the Abilities Centre in Whitby and supports a combination of both male and female ball players in grades 9 through 12. The coach will be working in collaboration with Rugby Ontario on the delivery of the technical program.
**All proposals must include**:

- A coach and/or company overview outlining technical coaching experience and certification. Please note minimum coach requirements include:

- be a registered member in good standing with Rugby Ontario
- Experience in, and technical knowledge of, the sport is required
- a completed Screening Disclosure Form
- have completed the following modules available online:

- Foundations
- Making Ethical Decision Online Evaluation
- Making Head Way
- CAC Safe Sport Training
- fully certified NCCP Advanced Development Coach (level 2) is an asset
- A description of the services you will offer, including your coach perspective and philosophy as it pertains to the long-term development of both male and female ball players.
- A curriculum of technical sessions as it pertains to the development of technical skills, tactical concepts, and skills matrices to evaluate acquisition of skills and learning
- Program examples, videos, pictures, testimonials, etc. an asset

**Schedule**:

- Availability in the role of Rugby Technical Coach for the 2025-2026 school year scheduled September 2, 2025- June 26, 2026.
- Two 75-minute sessions, per week at Abilities Centre
- Between the hours of 9:00am - 12:00pm OR 12:45pm - 3:30pm
- Days of the week to be determined

**Budget**:

- Abilities Centre has budgeted $1000 per month with a maximum of $10,000 for 10 months of program delivery. Contractors are responsible for covering the cost of travel for program implementation and may be responsible to cover their own personal sport equipment.

**Selection Process**:

- Successful contractors will be awarded a contract to implement programming for the ASAD Rugby Technical Training for September 2025. The successful contractor(s) will be expected to implement programming on a weekly basis.
- Successful contractors will provide time in February 2025 to host an athlete “Day in the Life” event and be an ambassador in the recruitment process and be an ambassador in the recruitment process.
- Successful contractors will be provided a conditional offer contingent on 10 athletes committed to the 2025-2026 Sport Technical Stream.
- All selected contractors are required to provide current Vulnerable Sector Screening report, at their own cost, and provide a copy of the Coaches Association of Canada Safe Sport Training Certification, in the event of contract. Contractors are also required to participate in Abilities Centre and ASAD orientation and on-boarding.
