Retirement Residence Attendant

**Overview**
The Attendant helps deliver in-house services to residents of Minton House. We provide an evening dinner service to 20-30 people in a common dining area with a relaxed atmosphere and a simplified menu.

Minton House is an independent living +55 condominium that offers staffing with personnel certified in First Aid and CPR, housekeeping, an evening meal, an Emergency Response System and a supportive environment with a sense of community.

**The Attendant position is someone who works in all positions, sometimes a combination of two within one eight-hour shift. The positions at Minton house are: Coordinator, Server, and Housekeeper. The following is an overview of the primary functions for each position**:

- **Coordinator**_:_
- Administers First Aid if required
- Assists with dining room set up & take down [evening shift only]
- Meal service & bussing (includes providing tray service to units when needed) [evening only].
- Dinner follow up duties include light laundry and general dining room cleanup, vacuuming of common areas, cleaning/sanitizing of common areas bathrooms, and some other cleaning duties.
- Data entry and other administrative tasks.
- Answering the phone and door and receives deliveries
- Provides support for social events (set-up, making posters, etc.)
- **Server**_:_
- Assists with dining room set up & take down, meal service & bussing (includes providing tray service to units when needed)
- Dinner follow up duties include dishwashing and general kitchen cleanup
- Assists the Coordinator in cleaning of the common areas

*Attendant includes a combination of housekeeping AND serving the evening meal, in an eight-hour shift*
- **Housekeeper**:_
- Light housekeeping duties including cleaning of residents' individual units (bathrooms, kitchens, laundry, vacuuming and mopping) up to four per day
- Vacuuming hallways and additional cleaning of common areas of building
- Sanitizing and cleaning of common areas such as stairwells and laundry rooms
- Ability to do physically demanding work
- Attendant includes a combination of housekeeping (2 suites) AND serving the evening meal, in an eight-hour shift

**Hours of work**:
**8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Housekeeping solely)**
**4:00 pm - 10:00 p.m. (Evening Coordinator)**
**4:30 pm - 8:30 pm (Server) 5:00-9:00 on weekends**

**12:30-8:30 p.m. (Attendant)**

**Education and/or Certification**
- Food Safe certification an asset but not required

**Experience (not required, but an asset)**
- Experience working with seniors
- Serving experience
- Housekeeping

**Skills and Abilities**
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and meet demands of positions, including lifting up to 20lbs
- Professional, courteous, and friendly
- Computer literate
- Able to read, write and comprehend English and be able to follow written and oral instructions accurately

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
