**Position Title**: Actuary - Individual Valuation
**Reports To**: Director, Individual Non-Par Valuation
**Department**: Financial Reporting & Capital Management
**Term**: Permanent Full-Time
**Work Arrangements**: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

We are looking for an Actuary to join our Individual UL and Non-Par Valuation team. Reporting to the Director, Individual UL and Non-Par Valuation, this position will focus on projects to optimize and modernize the valuation processes across the entire company and also review and simplify processes to improve productivity and accuracy. You will join the Equitable actuarial community and get the opportunity to experience and learn different areas of our business. **What you will be doing**:

- Lead key initiatives for the company’s financial reporting process modernization
- Optimize the company’s use of Moody’s AXIS and Gridlink
- Consolidate and simplify processes to reduce the number of models and manual processes
- Manage co-op students
- Develop consistent model risk controls across valuation teams
- Provide support to valuation teams for model development, implementation, audit and regulatory requests
- Work with IT departments to develop roadmap for actuarial systems infrastructure, data storage best-practice
- Ad hoc projects across valuation and capital teams
- Make recommendations on process improvements

**What you will bring**:

- University degree in mathematics-based discipline
- FCIA / FSA designation
- Require thorough knowledge of valuation systems - AXIS, SQL, Excel, Access
- Experience using an IFRS17 CSM engine (e.g. RiskIntegrity), and Python is an asset
- IFRS 17 financial reporting experience
- Experience with optimizing large data sets
- Experience using PowerBi or similar data visualization tools
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated experience multi-tasking within a competing priority environment
- A strong desire to further improve actuarial knowledge and skills
- Strong communication and ability to influence
