We are hiring teaching assistants to help, observe and eventually become teachers for our storytelling programs (working with students ages 2-8).

Your hours will be dependent on class times which run from Monday-Friday 3:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday-Sundays from 9:00am-2:00pm. We are mainly looking for applicants for Monday and Tuesdays 3pm-8pm, with the possibility of shifts for other days of the week as well.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Completion of an Academic Degree in any field, or in their senior year.
- Patient and professional under pressure.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion towards young children with varying levels of language proficiency.
- Ability to take initiative and exercise resourcefulness even without instruction.
- Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills to interact with students and staff.
- Ability to follow direction and to take constructive criticism as a means to improve oneself to improve performance.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to assist in preparation of crafts, readings and other materials required for class.
- Ability to multitask and absorb information through observation and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of records and client information.
- Demonstrated ability to independently exercise appropriate judgment and to make important decisions on matters of varying complexity.
- Experience working with young children is considered an asset.
- Ability to become more independent with more in-class experience as teaching assistants may eventually have their own running classes.
- 6-month commitment or beyond is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Ability to follow online and in-person training in mid to late October to prepare for the start date.
- Ability to work in our office in Richmond, BC.
- Must have access to a personal computer, stable internet connection and a quiet space to conduct lessons (if online).
- Dress code of business casual.
- Curriculum and teaching material is provided.
- We offer $18 to start depending on experience Once teaching assistants transition into teachers, the pay begins at $22/hr.

Part-time hours: 10-20 per week

COVID-19 considerations:
For in-person instruction: all students wear a mask, instructors wear a mask or a face shield, no more than 4 students per class to allow for social distancing, and all cleaning supplies are provided.
