**Adult Community Housing Support Worker, Nanaimo BC**

**Position Type**:Part time (20 Hours)

**Shift Schedule**:Monday - Friday (8am-12pm)

**Starting Wage**:$20.30 per hour

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Community Housing Manager and Director of Community Housing, the Adult Community Housing Support Worker will:

- Assist individuals with the activities of daily living involving their personal, social, physical, recreational, vocational, educational, and environmental needs
- Will promote respectful treatment of individuals and defend individual rights, including demonstration of a high degree of tolerance for the individual's unique personalities and needs
- Support individuals to communicate needs, choices and preferences, and to support the use of inclusive communication strategies
- Guide and promote a friendly and effective working relationship with other residential and outreach team members
- Perform all duties in a safe, efficient, and respectful manner to promote choice, independence, and integration for the individuals receiving our services
- Provide medication administration or monitoring depending on the individual
- Ensure the individuals nutritional needs are being met within the home
- Ensure the individuals in care are provided with a safe, secure home environment which promotes independence and choice
- Have open communication with all levels of management
- Uphold the Policies and Procedures of Bonaventure Support Services Ltd and carry out our Mission statement, Values and Code of Ethics to the best of their abilities
- Adhere to any relevant Legislation and Regulations (i.e. _Community Care Facility Act Adult Regulations, Standards for Residential Settings _and _Motor Vehicle Act, CLBC, CARF, WCB-WorkSafe-BC_)

Qualifications:

- Preferred formal education (i.e., CSW, RCA, SIVA etc.) and/or work experience with persons with diverse abilities and/or other relevant experience
- Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills (ability to interact effectively with persons and team members)
- The desire and ability to work with persons with diverse abilities and demonstrated personal suitability to promote dignity, independence, individuality, and spirit
- Ability to work independently
- Must be in good health, free of communicable diseases
- Provide a strong leadership to team and individuals
- Be organized and able to work in a high stress environment
- Show a high standard of professionalism
- Must be 19+
