**MUSIC DIRECTOR**
St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Mission B.C. is searching for a Music Director.
The Music Director will be responsible for organizing, planning and implementing music for each worship service with attention to special seasons of the church year such as Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter, etc.
1. Select music appropriate to worship themes and seasons of the church year, in consultation with the Minister, with consideration given to congregational needs.
2. Demonstrate proficiency and competence in playing the piano.
3. Assist with music for occasional children’s concerts, in consultation with the Sunday School staff.
4. Encourage and teach the congregation new hymns and praise music during worship services.
5. Provide the church administrative assistant with the weekly list of music selections for inclusion in the weekly bulletin and power point slides.
6. Provide music accompaniment for worship services or arrange for a substitute in his/her absence.
7. Willing to work flexible hours based on a part time position of 2 hours per week.
8. Provide music accompaniment for weddings or funerals, if requested. This duty is over and above regular salary and thus, the Music Director would receive a set fee for services from the family.
9. Maintain the music library through the purchase of music and organization of the collection in consultation with the church administrative assistant.
1. Has a basic understanding of scripture and its authority within the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
2. Has the ability to play a varied repertoire of Christian music and is willing to learn and teach new congregational hymns and praise music.
3. Possess organization, planning skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the Minister and congregation.
4. Demonstrates flexibility in implementation of music for worship as required.
5. Demonstrates proficiency and competency in playing the piano.
6. Has knowledge of resources and venues for purchasing appropriate Christian music and ensures all music is accessed following legal and copyright laws.
1. The music director will be paid $45/hour for 2 hours per week. The hours per week may increase after the first 3 months of employment.
2. The music director will receive 2 weeks of vacation per year; this can be negotiated at contract signing.

Pay: $22.50 per hour
