To support us on our journey, Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital is looking for a **Lead** **Pharmacy Technician **to support our **Pharmacy **department.

**Job Outline**:
The Lead Pharmacy Technician coordinates the day-to-day activities of Pharmacy Technicians, including the development and maintenance of drug distribution policies and procedures, as well as maintaining compliance with standards of drug procurement and distribution practices.

**Responsibilities**:
**Scheduling, Coordination and Management of Pharmacy Technicians**
- Prepare schedules for Pharmacy Technicians to ensure adequate coverage
- Coordinate and assign daily tasks for Pharmacy Technicians
- Triage and troubleshoot issues, as they arise
- Assist senior manager in the design and assignment of Pharmacy Technician job portfolios; assess and adjust portfolios in accordance with technology and/or process changes
- Assist manager in conducting performance appraisals
- Assume duties and responsibilities as a Pharmacy Technician in shift and weekend rotation when staffing shortages arise
- Supervise Pharmacy Technicians

**Technical**
- Demonstrate proficiency in unit dose, prepackaging, and compounding non-sterile and sterile preparation
- Verify all products are reviewed by a registered pharmacy technician or pharmacist to ensure standards for appropriate drug and dose, labelling, and container integrity are met
- Maintain and troubleshoot pharmacy equipment, as needed; coordinate annual calibration

**Administrative**
- Maintain policies and procedures pertaining to drug distribution
- Liaise between Manager and Pharmacy Technicians
- Ensure compliance with the standards set by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP), Accreditation Canada, United States Pharmacopeia, and NAPRA
- Act as hiring manager in recruiting Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy students, Pharmacy Assistants and volunteers (Technician and Pharmacist) as vacancies arise; conduct orientation for new hires
- Oversee attendance and payroll coding for respective team
- Monitor cleaning activities/logs carried out by environmental services staff within the pharmacy
- Collate workload measurement data related to Pharmacy Technicians
- Assist in data and reporting collection (statistical and financial) when requested by senior leadership

**Education, Training, and Continuous Quality Improvement**
- Coordinate training for Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy students and Pharmacists regarding the inpatient drug distribution system
- Ensure Technicians’ education, certifications, and credentials remain current and meet minimum requirements
- Identify issues relating to the quality of technical functions and report to Manager
- Coordinate and implement continuous quality improvement activities as they relate to the Pharmacy Technician role and/or drug distribution systems
- Coordinate maintenance of equipment, as needed, and ensure all equipment in the Pharmacy remain in safe, working condition; maintain maintenance records
- Coordinate training, certifications, and competency assessments of Pharmacy Technicians in all technical functions and portfolios, as applicable
- Manage the technical function of the student experience within the Pharmacy department
- Collaborate with Manager to strategize and develop the Technician role
- Maintain records in accordance with policies and legislation; conduct audits for quality improvement and to meet accreditation standards
- Participate in committee work to support safe, high-quality medication distribution and administration practices within a closed loop medication management system

**Inventory Management**
- Manage the process monitoring the expiry dates of drugs in the inpatient pharmacy and nursing units; coordinate removal of expired products from all areas of the hospital
- When a product is recalled, assist the Purchasing Technician to retrieve the product from all areas of the hospital
- Coordinate backorder management
- Ensure compliance with drug procurement requirements
- Coordinate with Manager and Pharmacy Technicians regarding annual drug inventory

**Education & Qualifications**:

- Pharmacy Technician Diploma from a Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) accredited college
- Licensed and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Technician
- Minimum 5 years’ of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital environment
- Minimum 3 years’ expe
