**1 ‑ Temporary Full Time - Registered Practical Nurse**

**Assertive Community Treatment**

This position will involve working the days, evenings and weekend shifts. The shift is not to be interpreted as a

guarantee.

Reporting to the Assertive Community Treatment Team Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing quality

nursing care to patients who have mental illnesses, significant functional impairments and require intensive support.

As part of an inter‑professional health care team, you will practice within the Standards of the College of Nurses of

Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and family centered care, the mission vision, values and the policies of Thunder

Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (HSC).

As a member of the inter‑professional team, the Registered Practical Nurse will deliver mobile community based

psychosocial rehabilitation and support services necessary to facilitate successful community living, and establish a

therapeutic rapport.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification in BCLS
- Recent knowledge in Acute Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing with experience caring for patients with addiction

issues; completing mental status examinations; providing trauma informed care; and developing, leading and

evaluating patient groups
- A minimum of three years working in a community mental health care setting providing intensive case

management services
- The ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with

her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
- The ability to collaborate with Registered Nurses when patients assigned to the Registered Practical Nurse

become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected
- The ability to identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
- The ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
- Strong inter‑professional communication skills
- A valid driver's license

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:

- Have a certification, or recent continuing education in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing
- Have CPMHN(C) designation
- Knowledge of current legislation, including the Mental Health Act and the Health Care Consent Act
- Have recent experience working in an ACTT setting

Salary Range: $36.092 to 37.049
