The Ultra Assurance function is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and fulfilment of Ultra's Quality Policy, which is to comply fully in the conduct of the Company's business with all applicable regulatory and customer required specifications, and to maintain an effective Quality Management System, working in partnership with the Operations and Engineering teams to ensure that products and processes conform to applicable standards and specifications, and the incidence and costs of quality non-conformances are constantly monitored and improved, while maintaining the highest practicable standards of manufacturing productivity and efficiency.
As a key member of the Quality / Product Assurance team, the Production Process Assessor supports Production Operations in auditing of qualifications of individual operators and manufacturing processes. Timely assessments will help ensure product quality as well helping to maximize production efficiency. The gaps in processes and qualifications will be identified early, allowing corrective actions to be taken. In addition to completing qualification assessments, the Production Process Assessor will also help identify areas of opportunity for improvements.
In collaboration with the Sonobuoy and Sonar Production and Quality / Product Assurance teams, the Production Process Assessor shall:
- Complete operator on the job assessments within the production areas to determine discrepancies between actual assembly processes and MEIs/VDS. Confirm compliance with the MEI/VDS, or where necessary identify a need for additional operator training.
- Assess/Audit to all Sonobuoy and Sonar Manufacturing Engineering Instructions (MEI) build instructions in those production areas to determine the extent of deltas and identify updates required to bring the instruction up to date, including consideration for photos and other visual factory techniques.
- Assess/Audit the Sonobuoy and Sonar Verification Data Sheet (VDS) documents to verify the required checks are being completed and identify possible areas of oversight.
- Control of work stamps through the approved process
- Identifying process improvement opportunities while completing job assessments, including but not limited to, areas of equipment operation, workflow, and fabrication processes.
- Solicit feedback with respect to the suitability of equipment, materials, documents, and tools, as well as feedback on the overall training and assessment process.
- Support the development and implementation of the employee training program.
- Identify causes of not meeting build standards and identify where a build standard should be investigated for possible changes.
- Support the Continuous Improvement group in the completion of time studies.
Required Skills:
- Possesses a background in manufacturing technology such as electrical or mechanical technology, industrial engineering technology or similar.
- Must be able to obtain a NATO Secret level security clearance
- Must possess a high level of attention to detail.
- Must have good computer skills with literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, as well as good report writing ability. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and an ability to multi-task.
