Professional Liability Underwriter
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented and outgoing underwriter to join our Professional Liability team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building broker relationships, has a natural sales instinct, and enjoys uncovering new business opportunities. You will be responsible for underwriting a portfolio of Errors & Omissions (E&O) risks across various industry classes including architects & engineers, miscellaneous professionals, design-build contractors and project specific E&O. You’ll play a key role in driving profitable growth through strong technical underwriting, broker engagement, and portfolio management.
This is a hybrid role that can be based in Toronto (preferred), Edmonton or Calgary with flexibility to work remotely 2-3 days per week.
Linx underwriters are expected to build and maintain strong broker relationships through regular travel. For this role, travel will be focused within Ontario, with occasional opportunities across Canada.

What the day will look like
Underwriting & Risk Assessment
Underwrite new and renewal business in accordance with Linx underwriting guidelines and binding authority agreements.
Evaluate submissions for completeness and suitability, assess risk exposures, and price appropriately based on exposure and market conditions
Conduct claims reviews and factor loss history to make sound underwriting decisions
Complete underwriting referrals as required, including preparing clear, well-supported justifications
Negotiate terms with brokers and capacity providers when risks fall outside of authority.
Prepare quotations and policy documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to underwriting guidelines
Maintain accurate underwriting files and contribute to reporting, audits, and performance tracking
Take ownership of an assigned book of business and maintain a strong understanding of portfolio performance, including rate change, retention, new business opportunities, and other key metrics that drive profitability and portfolio success.
Broker & Market Engagement
Develop and maintain strong broker relationships to generate quality submissions and support new business growth
Deliver exceptional service to broker partners with urgency, accountability, and professionalism.
Promote the Linx brand and product offerings through regular broker engagement and in-person visits.
Team Contribution & Development
Contribute to a positive team culture by sharing knowledge, supporting others, and actively participating in team discussions
Contribute to Linx’s overall goals for revenue growth and profit margin.
Participate in projects as needed, including the development of new products and supporting process improvements

2-5 years of professional liability underwriting experience, with a focus on architects and engineers
Experience underwriting project specific E&O policies is an asset
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
