Squamish Nation consists of 23 villages and is comprised of descendants of the Coast Salish Aboriginal people who live in the present-day Greater Vancouver area, Gibson’s Landing, and Squamish River watershed. The Squamish Nation has occupied and governed the territory since beyond recorded history. The Squamish Nation's culture is rich and resilient. As an organization, we provide support to the greater Squamish Nation Community through service. With 12 departments with individual areas of expertise, we ensure Community Members have access to necessary programs and services.
**About The Opportunity**:
Working as an integral part of the Public Safety Department, the Research Lead will take the lead with research at the Department, particularly collecting, managing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and measuring performance related to the growing range various initiatives and projects. It also includes preparing reports, memos, briefs, and presentations on public safety topics, as well as comparative learnings with other Indigenous communities and jurisdictions in Canada and beyond. The position entails liaising directly with staff, the Community Safety Team (CST), and other departments.
**What You Bring**:
- Combination of relevant experience, education, and training.
- Understanding and fluency with data analysis tools and database management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Able to disseminate complex information to stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal direction to balance priorities and meet deadlines, while also working with people at all levels of the organization and across teams.
- A broad general knowledge of public safety, different levels of government, policy making, and/or conflict resolution.
- High level of emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity.
- Resourceful, adaptable, collaborative, and organized.
***Salary**: $ 76,499 - $ 85,634 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits program
