Overview:
Lafarge Canada Inc is a leading manufacturer and supplier of quality products for the construction industry and has an immediate opportunity at our Saskatoon Cement Terminal for a permanent
**Terminal Operator Assistant **position.

The
** Terminal Operator Assistant** operates and maintains terminal equipment with a focus on bulk truck loading and bulk rail car unloading with associated administration reporting functions; all while maintaining high safety and quality assurance standards. To be successful you will be comfortable with outdoor working conditions with higher percentage of physicality to the role. Operation, equipment and safety training will be provided as required.

**Responsibilities**:

- Actively participate in and operate within the terminal Safety Program in compliance with Lafarge Canada Inc’s safety and environmental policies
- General labour related duties and cleanup
- Unload bulk railcars and load bulk semi-trucks
- Operation and daily maintenance of rail unloading and bulk truck loading equipment
- Operate a forklift to load and unload packaged cement
- Supervise and direct contractors on site, when required
- Supervision and direction of truck/railway carriers’ activities on site
- Inventory control
- Terminal Housekeeping
- Other associated duties that the employee is trained for
- Ability to work overtime and willing to work shift work if required.

Qualifications:

- Comfortable and capable of working at heights
- Demonstrates commitment to safety for oneself and others
- Mechanical aptitude a positive attribute
- Time and self-management skills as part of a team or independently
- Physically fit to encompass labor requirements of role
- Demonstrate strong skills in problem solving, decision making and multi-tasking
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy: including Excel, Word programs a benefit
- Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed including Saturdays
- Safety Oriented
- Able to lift 55 lbs
- Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Understanding of building materials industry, including cement product knowledge an asset
