**Additional Information**:This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Opal Hospitality. The franchisee controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including the selection and hiring process. If you accept a position at this hotel you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International.
**JOB SUMMARY**
The Sales and Marketing Associate will report directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing as well as the Event Manager for day-to-day duties. The Sales and Marketing Associate will also manage group bookings, correspond with guests and corporate clients, contribute to creating hotel packages and marketing efforts, attend and participate in wedding shows, coordinate banquets, and provide excellent customer service to clients. They also need to maintain accurate records, follow up on cut-off dates and room availability and stay updated on relevant systems and procedures.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Manage group bookings by entering rates, contact information, and room types into CI/TY and LightSpeed to create group blocks. Follow up on block cut-off dates and release or add rooms as necessary.
- Maintain a daily balance of all Light Speed and CI/TY groups to guarantee projections and pick-ups are matched.
- Enter rooming lists and manage individual reservations in Lightspeed.
- Contribute to creating hotel packages and assist with social media marketing calendars and postings.
- Generate new ideas for social media and marketing.
- Conduct One Yield Projections.
- Respond to guest reviews.
- Schedule banquet site Tours, set up wedding tastings, attend and participate in wedding shows.
- Use Canva or other software to design marketing material.
- Attend weekly revenue management meetings.
- Complete full training, and stay up to date on CI/TY, LightSpeed, Sertifi, and other Marriott systems as required.
- Coordinate events prior and on the day of, assist with set ups the day before, coordinate group banquet bookings, and provide a warm welcome upon arrival.
- Create opportunities in CI/TY, adding all pertinent details, such as pricing, menu options, and notes.
- Create BEOs, send quotes for banquet room rentals, and create contracts, entering all necessary information.
- Attend departmental meetings.
- Maximize efficiency through the preparation and planning of each Banquet function.
- Assist with room set-ups and appearance.
- Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow team members (both within the department and in other hotel departments), to help achieve our common goals of maximizing guest satisfaction and profit margins.
- Maintain a positive attitude toward the hotel and the job being performed.
- Other reasonable duties as required.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must have access to a vehicle and hold a CLASS G Ontario Drivers License. Mileage will be mínimal. (G1 and G2 licenses do not qualify.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Sales, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
- Fluent in written and oral English (required)
- 1+ Year of sales or similar experience is required.
- Experience with Marriott System such as CI/TY and/or Lightspeed and/or One Yield and/or Sertifi is an asset.
- Experience in software programs commonly used in sales and marketing roles such as Canva is an asset.
- Great time management and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The ability to provide an excellent level of customer service, even in stressful situations.
- Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, and on weekends and holidays.
