System Integrator

**Title**:Systems Integrator

**Location**: Canada, Remote

**Reports To**:Manager, Tech Ops & Infrastructure

**The Role**:
The Systems Integrator contributes to all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle by deploying, configuring, and integrating software solutions. This role works closely with Delivery Unit stakeholders to ensure effective release and configuration management across multiple environments. The Systems Engineer also works in close collaboration with our Technology Leaders to define and implement continuous integration and continuous delivery constructs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop fault-tolerant, highly available and self-healing platforms hosted with technologies such as Kubernetes.
- Work with software developers to write code that scales, maintains and monitors our infrastructure
- Automate and instrument to make processes reproducible and environments reliable
- Build release automation templates (i.e. Jenkins, Ansible)
- Champion environment stability and non-functional requirements, such as security, fit for purpose, upgradability, etc.
- Design, implement and maintain release processes, including Git Flow, Integration of Secret Management, CI/CD
- Work with and potentially lead other technical resources to assist with delivering high quality solutions
- Participate in architecture troubleshooting
- Assist with resource estimation and perform capacity planning for future solutions
- Maintain accurate capacity plans in support of accounting and budgeting activities
- Maintain a high standard of documentation and perform knowledge transfers to other team members in order to ensure coverage and support for critical environments
- Work with other System Integrators and the core Linux team to ensure consistent processes, procedures and technology across the organization
- Be exceptionally self-motivated, self-directed, and detail-oriented
- Provide superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Be an evangelist and expert for emerging technologies that may be of benefit to the organization
- Provide on-call and escalation support

**Essential skills**:

- Experience with version control software such as GitLab or Perforce
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or SaltStack
- Monitoring tools such as Nagios
- Experience designing and executing automated test suites for the integration and system test levels
- Knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud platforms would be an asset
- Implementation and operation of Kubernetes or a similar container orchestration platform
- Scaling micro-service architectures within Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP
- Service Mesh such as Istio, Linkerd, Kong, etc.
- Service monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Application Insights, etc
- Highly skilled in at least one programming language such as Python, C#, Java, Ruby, Javascript
- Obsession over using data and paying attention to small details to solve problems
- Experience with chaos engineering, incident response plans, monitoring, and alerting

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- 5+ years of experience implementing DevOps toolchains
- Linux system administration would be an asset
