National Underwriting Coordinator

**Summary**:
We seek a senior, talented, insurance specialist with superior organizational skills and judgment, to join our Legal Department as our National Underwriting Coordinator.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Coordinate the activities of Working Groups in reviewing and updating IBC’s model advisory policy wordings for commercial property, liability and habitational insurance.
- Assist the chairs of the Working Groups in the development of meeting agendas, reports and recommendations.
- Provide information and technical or strategic advice to the Working Groups.
- Prepare and distribute minutes of proceedings, notes and draft copies of policy wordings.
- Prepare underwriting bulletins for members relating to new or revised advisory wordings and endorsements with explanation of reasons for and effect of the wording or revisions.
- Maintain the electronic copies of all relevant materials and ensure that revised policy wordings are posted on IBC’s member website.
- Prepare updates for other IBC committees on advisory wording developments.
- Develop and promote contacts with other industry organizations.
- Respond to inquiries from colleagues, members or others that relate to commercial property, liability and habitational insurance.
**Experience and Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 10 years experience working within a insurance company - preferably in both commercial and personal lines.
- In-depth knowledge of P&C insurance practices (underwriting, claims and marketing).
- Keen interest and broad experience in development of insurance contract wordings and the common law or Civil Code legislative framework.
- Interest in and ability to understand insurance case law and appreciate the impact it has on the development of policy wordings.
- Successful completion of Insurance Institute of Canada’s diploma courses (CIP or FCIP) would be an asset.
- Ability to manage own workload and operate with minimum supervision.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral presentations.
