Behavioral Consultant/mental Health Clinician

Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager or Coordinator CYFMH Outpatient Services, the Behavioral Consultant/Mental Health Clinician conducts comprehensive behavioral assessments, develops and implements behavioral interventions and provides individual/group counselling services to children & youth with psychiatric disorders and concurrent neurodevelopmental conditions, working within an interdisciplinary team and on a community outreach basis. Duties also include the provision of consultation and support to families and community care networks.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or other relevant health related discipline. A minimum of two (2) years' recent experience providing direct behavioral assessment and therapy as well as counselling support to children and youth with complex and/or chronic mental health and concurrent neurodevelopmental conditions. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred.
Valid BC Driver's License.

- Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments including interviews, observations and functional analysis.
- Demonstrated skills in developing, implementing and evaluating behavioural treatment programs.
- Demonstrated skills related to provision of individual and group therapy/counselling
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team in care planning for complex clients and to proactively manage and resolve conflict
- Demonstrated ability to work in complex environments
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to observe and record objective data
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal effectively with others
- Ability to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to operate related office equipment
