The ReStore Associate works closely with the ReStore Manager to scale the organization and increase the number of families served per year and is a dynamic and highly motivated member of Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa (Habitat GO)’s leadership team.

Reporting to the ReStore Manager, the ReStore Associate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and driving sales within the ReStore along with performing receiving duties and processing donations. ReStore Associates work alongside volunteers and provide excellent customer service to both shoppers and donors at our ReStores.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide great customer service by greeting customers when they enter the store, anticipate customer needs; nurture a welcoming environment for customers, volunteers, and staff.
- Help customers select products, answer their questions, and share product knowledge.
- Process purchases and returns efficiently using point of sale equipment.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, pricing and stocking merchandise according to ReStore guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and volunteers to ensure the workplace is clean, organized, safe and productive.

- High school diploma or working towards the completion of high school diploma;
- Able to work effectively with mínimal supervision;
- Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work with the public and diverse populations;
- Basic math skills;
- Able to manage time well, such as timely arrival for shift and reporting hours;
- Able to follow and enforce health and safety requirements;
- Good verbal communication skills in English;
- Previous retail experience or knowledge of building materials and pricing an asset;
- French language proficiency would be an asset; and
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

Managing and Leading:

- This position does not have any direct responsibility for managing and leading people.

Physical Effort:

- This position requires some degree of physical effort.
- Periods of standing and walking for extensive periods throughout the day.
- Some lifting required of medium to heavy weight objects

Mental Effort
- This position requires mental effort throughout the day when speaking with customers or resolving issues/complaints

Working Conditions
- The position works in a retail setting and occasionally in a warehouse environment; safety footwear is always required.

Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $17.20 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
