The Sarnia manufacturing facility is the headquarters for ARLANXEO Canada Inc. with a Global Research & Development Centre for Butyl Rubber found in London, Ontario. Focused on the production of synthetic rubber, the Sarnia facility is a major supplier to both domestic and international markets and employs over 300 employees.
**Purpose**
To ensure all functions and assignments within the outside operation are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures. Specified business targets and objectives shall be followed, and a high level of quality performance achieved.
**Responsibilities**:
**Finishing Production Monitoring and Maintenance**
- Issue permits for maintenance and repair work to be completed in the Butyl Finishing facilities, including confirming of all related safety, lockout and tag out information as it relates to the work to be performed under the permit, as required
- Arrange the counter-signing of hot work and confined space work permits with Quality Specialist
- Perform process relevant preventative maintenance as required on Equipment
- Assist with electrical resets of equipment under 600 volts, as required
- Performs the lockout and tag out of all equipment as required, in accordance with established procedures and in compliance with all organizational and legislative standardsPrepares equipment for required maintenance (PM or DIN), ensuring that all required testing has been performed prior to maintenance personnel arriving (i.e. vessel entry testing).**Finishing Production Manufacturing Process**
- Assist Process Technicians or perform duties relating to quality control testing, as required
- Create and issue maintenance notifications utilizing the established maintenance processes relating to equipment in the Butyl Finishing area
- Troubleshoot all related chemical and mechanical processes relating to the area and participate in other problem solving or trouble shooting activity teams as assigned by management
- Ensures the performance of all process testing (i.e. gas testing) as required
- Responsible for recording all required information around process, production and equipment events as it relates to the Butyl Finishing Outside operations in the Shift Log
- Responsible for operating the Water Softening System, ensuring that all equipment and peripherals are maintained and functioning within defined specifications and that all materials supplies are available for the contined operation of the system
- Respond to all alarms, DCS and cameras, reporting issues to Supervisor/Quality Specialist and other resources as required
- Communicate with Operating Technicians and Supervision in the Butyl Polys/Halo operations in order to ensure that all process and production information is received in Finishing as required in order to accommodate product/process and systems changes accordingly
- Monitors all exchanges on the Plant Radio, responding as necessary in required situations
- Receives Daily Change Notices (DCN) for the production and process schedule and makes all necessary process/system and equipment changes in the finishing area as required to accommodate DCN information
- Prepares or assists all equipment, materials and supplies for required grade changesResponsible for slurry management, ensuring that pumps are swung, valves etc. are mnitored and adjusted accordingly to ensure that the process/product is maintained within defined specifications. Included in these tasks are coordination of grade changes, draining and flushing, destination and steaming, trench management and Polys and Halo water control.**Safe and Clean Work Environment**
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including performing general clean-up activities
- Assist Process Technician n checking oil in hydraulic equipment, performing checklists and rounds of equipment to ensure functionality is complete, with checklists relating to air, oil, vacuum, etc. are completed on a timely basis
- Assist Process Technicians in contamination cleaning, on each line, as per the following equipment: DWS, FOM, DWD, Lutensol/nozzle, Cyclone, Cooling conveyor, Split flow conveyor, Dribbler conveyor and balers.Performs scheduled grade change initiat
