De Luca’s Specialty Food Store, established in 1968, began as a grocery store and small restaurant featuring authentic Italian foods, primarily serving Winnipeg’s Italian community. Today, De Luca’s caters to a broad audience across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and North-Western Ontario. Our clientele is attracted by internationally imported Mediterranean products, meats, cheeses, as well as De Luca’s homemade sausages, pastas, sauces, and in-store bakery.
We are seeking a professional **Catering Chef** to prepare food to the exact specifications of our executive chefs and to oversee the execution of catering orders. The **Catering Chef** will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality dishes that meet our standards. This role will involve working closely with the kitchen team and assisting in both food preparation and menu development for large-scale catering events.
**Responsibilities**:
- Prepare and cook food items for catering orders according to recipes and quality standards
- Lead the setup and organization of catering stations, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available
- Assist in menu planning and recipe development for catering events
- Ensure all food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner, following proper food handling and safety guidelines
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff during catering operations
- Oversee the proper presentation and portion control of food for catering events
- Clean and maintain work areas, kitchen equipment, and utensils
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient service during catering events
- Manage inventory of catering supplies and ensure proper storage of ingredients and finished dishes
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience as a Catering Chef, line cook, or in a similar food service position
- Strong knowledge of food safety principles and practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and service
- Ability to work well as part of a team and effectively communicate with kitchen staff and other departments
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Passion for preparing high-quality food and creating memorable dining experiences
**Job Type**: Full-time
**Pay**: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
**Expected Hours**: 40.00 per week
