The Department of Pediatrics is affiliated with CHEO, the CHEO Research Institute and the University of Ottawa. Together, we provide outstanding patient care, leading research, and quality pediatric medical education. The Department of Pediatrics provides health care to newborns, children and youth of the Ottawa area, as well as those from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, Nunavut and parts of Northern Ontario (population of approximately 1.8 million). The Department of Pediatrics has 18 distinct divisions, which includes Pediatric Medicine.
The Division of Pediatric Medicine is recruiting an Academic Pediatrician to join their expanding division. The division is comprised of 18 dynamic, diverse and highly engaged faculty members. Many hold academic leadership positions in the areas of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education, CME, Indigenous Health, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, and Informatics. The division is known for its collegiality, supportive environment and collaboration.
CHEO's inpatient medical units admit a large breadth and volume of pediatric patients throughout the year. Encountered conditions are widely varied, including children with medical complexity, as well as those with common pediatric illnesses. There are approximately 3000 admissions and 16,000 patient days annually on the CTU, representing approximately 40% of the total inpatient hospital activity. CHEO has representation in all pediatric subspecialties.
The cornerstone of clinical care for divisional members is provision of high-quality patient centered care on the inpatient clinical teaching units (CTU), the Complex Care Program (inpatient and ambulatory services), and tertiary level outpatient consulting pediatrics. Divisional staff also support an Academic Pediatric Medicine Fellowship Program.
