Hse Officer

Tandem Networks Inc. is an Ottawa based Telecommunications Design and Construction Company which is currently accepting resumes to fill the position of Health and Safety Officer.

**Applicants being considered for this position will possess the following skills and abilities**:

- Must be bilingual - English & French
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Minimum 1 year experience in the Construction industry.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Health & Safety field.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of Quebec and Ontario safety legislation
- Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety is considered a strong asset.
- Possessing or working towards NCSO or equivalent designation is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable Regulations.
- Ability to identify problems/issues, generate solutions, dissolve conflict, and make sound decisions using standard procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all personnel and Tandem Networks Inc. business matters.
- Strong computer background skills including but not limited to MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to contribute as a team member sharing experiences and ideas as well as being able to work with mínimal supervision.
- Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver's license.
- English essential - bilingualism considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in Quebec and Ontario occupational health and safety legislation
- Act as safety advisor for its Ontario and Quebec offices
- Manage and maintain the company Health and Safety program.
- Create, maintain, update and implement company policy and procedure.
- Annual and quarterly audit of Health and Safety Program.
- Support and advise the project management teams with safety related issues.
- Provide assistance and act as a resource to various project sites and management personnel.
- Maintain all company Health and Safety documentation including but not limited to office and site inspections, equipment inspections, audits, daily hazard assessments, safety data sheets, toolbox talks, job hazards analysis, and safe work procedures.
- Actively complete site inspections and visits for compliance.
- Set-up, maintain the joint health and safety committee
- Identify corrective action to be taken when unsafe acts are identified during and inspection process; assist in resolving issues of non-compliance; and provides education to supervisors and project site personnel in matters of Health and Safety.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the Ontario and Quebec occupational legislations.
- Maintains positive and professional working relationships while interfacing and communicating with regulatory authorities, all levels of management, clients, consultants, contacts and visitors to promote safety.
- Actively maintain companies Health and Safety web portal.
- Conduct new employees, transferred and promoted employee orientations and assist in hiring new employees.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Senior Management

**Work Conditions**:

- Working outdoors and indoors depending on project
- Mobility between Ontario and Quebec

Tandem Networks Inc. offers competitive wages, medical group benefits as well as on the job training for accepted applicants.

General working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. Work schedule may require applicants to be flexible due to time of year and work load conditions.

Salary will will be determined based on experience and qualifications

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
